Open Educational Resources (OER): The LiLI Connection

Open educational resources (OER) are learning materials licensed in such a way as to freely permit educators to share, access, and collaborate in order to customize and personalize content and instruction (Bliss & Patrick, 2013).

Using Library Resources in OER Efforts

If openly licensed materials are not available, library-licensed resources may be a good alternative to saving students money on course materials. LiLI resources are freely available to all Idaho residents and include online tools for their education, business, and recreation needs. The tools available at LiLI.org are brought to you by the Idaho Commission for Libraries and made possible with funding from the State of Idaho. Additional support comes from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (lili.org).

Lili.org resources that can be utilized as OER

The suite of World Book Online products available via lili.org offers several resources for educators, including the ability to search for curricular tie-ins and links to lesson plans. To access, visit lili.org, select the desired World Book product, scroll to the bottom of the page, and select "For Educators"
